Position Title: IT Audio Visual Administrator

Position Objectives:
The A/V Administrator is responsible for the operation, support, and continuous improvement of audio-visual technology environments across campus. This includes classrooms, conference rooms, event spaces, athletic venues and other learning environments.
This role serves as the primary technical resource for audiovisual (A/V) systems and classroom technologies, ensuring reliable and seamless technology experiences that support academic instruction and college operations. The position partners closely with faculty, staff, and students to troubleshoot issues, implement solutions, and promote effective use of instructional technologies.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as a primary support resource for instructional technology and A/V systems across campus
- Configure, maintain, and support classroom, event, and conference room technologies, including displays, control systems, audio systems, digital signage and related A/V equipment.
- Monitor A/V systems and provide timely troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues impacting instructional and event spaces to ensure continuity of operations
- Respond to tickets and classroom support requests in a timely manner
- Assist with the design and implementation of technology solutions for classrooms, labs, conference rooms, and campus event spaces
- Evaluate instructional technology environments and recommend improvements, upgrades, and standardization opportunities
- Collaborate with faculty and departments to understand instructional needs and assist in integrating technology into teaching and learning environments
- Provide training and guidance to faculty, staff, and students on the use of classroom technologies and A/V systems
- Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, procedures, and knowledge base articles
- Assist with planning and execution of technology deployments, refresh cycles, and lifecycle management initiatives
Qualifications:
The minimum job requirements for this position are:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
- Three years of experience in related audio-visual environment
- Experience supporting audiovisual control systems, conferencing platforms, and presentation technologies (e.g., Q-sys, Extron, Zoom, Logitech)
- Familiarity with classroom technology design, signal flow, and troubleshooting A/V environments

- Displays a personal commitment to continual technology improvement
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant A/V certifications such as QSC Q-Sys level 1 or 2 and Extron Certification
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as a computer, phone, and copier.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to frequently move about campus facilities, including traversing stairs, navigating multiple floors, and traveling between buildings to provide on-site technical support.
- Bending and crouching around and under objects to check, adjust, maintain, install, or repair equipment.

Founded in 1851 in Newton, North Carolina, Catawba was started by German pioneers who had traveled from eastern Pennsylvania to settle in the valleys of the Haw, Yadkin, and Catawba Rivers.
