JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Special Education Director, the Special Education Elementary Assistant Director will oversee the secondary/post high programs, special schools, motor (OT, PT, APE) services, BCBA specialist and the Carson Smith Program
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Consults and collaborates with site administrators, supervisors and other department directors in coordinating secondary school offerings and where they are offered.

Communicates with parents/guardians regarding the growth and development of secondary students with disabilities.

Maintains and promptly submits all records, documents, and reports required by USBE and the federal government (IDEIA).

Consults and collaborates with site administrators regarding teachers and ongoing alignment development of instructional strategies, staff development opportunities, and instructional materials based on USBE Special Education guidelines.

Engages in vertical alignment and collaborates to improve and support instruction, behavior and compliance.

Models effective techniques for delivering administrative support to site staff (teachers and classified staff) in designing and providing developmentally appropriate learning opportunities.

Develops and monitors Special Education secondary procedures regarding student and staff safety, discipline, and conduct.

Collaborates with BCBA and Motor leads to support professional growth plans, connecting and integrating the work in larger instructional systems to meet the needs of students with disabilities.

Consults and collaborates with special school administrators to support instruction, behavior, and compliance.

Oversees Carson Smith Opportunity Scholarship Program helping families and working with special education personnel to conduct eligibility and comply with program requirements.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Incumbent must be fingerprinted and clear a criminal background check

Master's Degree required
-
Requires a valid Professional Educator License for the State of Utah (Appropriate administrator/supervisor license)

A Professional Educator License
-
Administrator experience is required
-
Building level administration experience (preferred)
-
Special Education services experience (preferred)
-
Must be skilled in working with diverse groups, building consensus, and maintaining focus on student needs

Requires the ability to communicate orally and in written form

Must be able to take initiative, work independently, be flexible, and be a collaborative team player

Must demonstrate the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and respect for others
