About the Role:
UNICARGO INC is looking for a detail-oriented and driven Import Operations Specialist to join our team in Kearny, NJ. Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage day-to-day import shipment operations from origin to final delivery
- Communicate with overseas agents, carriers, and vendors to ensure timely cargo movement
- Prepare, review, and process import documentation including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and packing lists
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and CBP entry requirements
- Track and monitor inbound shipments, proactively resolving delays or discrepancies
- Coordinate with customs brokers to facilitate smooth customs clearance
- Provide exceptional customer service by keeping clients informed on shipment status
- Maintain accurate records and update internal logistics management systems
Requirements:
- 1-3 years of experience in import operations, freight forwarding, or international logistics
- Knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, Incoterms, and import compliance procedures
- Experience with ocean and/or air freight import processes
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
- Team player with a can-do attitude
