Job Summary / Purpose
Ohio Truck Sales is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Master Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment. This individual should be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to producing high-quality work while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, electrical systems, air brake systems, suspension, steering, and hydraulic systems.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of diesel emission systems, including DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid), SCR, DPF, EGR, and related aftertreatment components to accurately diagnose and repair emission-related issues.
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and services.
- Accurately identify mechanical and electrical issues using advanced diagnostic equipment.
- Repair and replace defective components according to manufacturer specifications.
- Complete work orders and document repairs accurately.
- Perform road tests to verify repairs when necessary.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Mentor and assist less experienced technicians as needed.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with service advisors, parts personnel, and management regarding repair status and recommendations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Diesel technology certification preferred but not required
- Valid driver's license required with less than 5 points.
- Class B CDL preferred. Candidates who do not currently possess a Class B CDL will be provided the opportunity to attend company-paid training to obtain one.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in varying shop conditions.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of heavy-duty diesel repair experience preferred.
- Must possess exceptional diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with the ability to accurately identify complex mechanical and electrical problems. Strong diagnostic ability is essential for success in this role.
- Proficient with electronic diagnostic software and OEM service information.
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
