Position Overview
This heavy civil construction company in the greater Boston market has their eye out for a sharp, assistant project manager or project engineer with civil exp.
This Assistant Project Manager to support the planning, execution, and successful delivery of construction and infrastructure projects. The role assists the Project Manager in scheduling, budget control, resource allocation, risk mitigation, stakeholder communication, and quality and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities

Monitor project budgets and costs using Earned Value Management (EVM) principles; track forecasts, change orders, and support cost control activities.

Manage document control: prepare, review, and distribute RFIs, submittals, contracts, and technical drawings; maintain version control and records (Confluence, shared drives).

Coordinate construction activities and site inspections; support safety management and quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations.

Support procurement activities including vendor evaluation, purchase orders, contract administration, and tracking deliveries.

Identify, document, and track project risks and issues; work with the Project Manager and stakeholders to develop mitigation and contingency plans.

Facilitate stakeholder communication: prepare regular progress reports, dashboards, and meeting minutes for clients, design teams, contractors, and internal leadership.

Assist with contract management and ensure compliance with contractual obligations, statutory requirements, and quality standards.

Assist with vendor management and sub-contractor coordination, including performance tracking and dispute resolution.

Contribute to project close-out activities, including punch lists, as-built documentation, lessons learned, and final reporting.
Qualifications
-
Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management, Architecture, or related field preferred.

2+ years of experience supporting civil construction or infrastructure projects in an administrative or assistant project management role; experience with mid-size or large projects is advantageous.
