Open Hearing Board Member Position, Medical Professional
This is a volunteer position. There is no salary. Members of the Hearing Board receive a stipend of $75.00 per meeting day.
The Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District (District) is a local public agency designated by the California legislature to develop, implement, monitor and enforce local air pollution control rules, regulations and strategies. Our mission is to achieve state and federal clean air and climate goals.
The Hearing Board is established by state law and consists of five members - an attorney, a professional engineer, a member from the medical profession and two members of the public.
Typical Duties
The Hearing Board is scheduled to meet monthly, as needed, to hear and decide upon petitions for variances from rules, regulations or orders of the District. Also, the Hearing Board will hear petitions for abatement orders and appeals from permitting decisions.
Minimum Qualifications
The applicants for the Hearing Board are evaluated based on their qualifications to serve as representatives for their profession, field of endeavor, or the community, as the case may be.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
Hearing Board members serve a term of three years and may be re-appointed. The Hearing Board currently meets as often as three to four times per year depending on the volume of cases filed, usually on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, at the District's office at 777 12th Street, Sacramento, CA 95814.
