Job Summary
Southeastern Preparatory Academy (SEPA) is seeking an energetic, highly organized, and compassionate Guidance Counselor / Dean of Students to serve as a vital leader in fostering a positive, structured, inclusive, and supportive school environment for the 2026–2027 school year.
This is a dynamic leadership role for a professional who can successfully balance student counseling, discipline, behavioral intervention, ESE services, college readiness, and student support systems.
The ideal candidate is a strong yet compassionate leader—someone who can build meaningful relationships with students while maintaining high expectations for behavior, accountability, and academic success.

Position Overview
In this role, you will provide comprehensive academic, social, emotional, and behavioral support to students, helping them navigate challenges and achieve their full potential.
You will oversee and support:
- Student discipline and behavioral management
- Guidance counseling services
- ESE services
- IEPs and 504 plans
- MTSS / RTI intervention systems
- College and career readiness planning
- Student wellness and crisis support
Your leadership will help promote student well-being, school accountability, and a culture rooted in respect, growth, and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Guidance & Student Counseling
- Develop and implement individualized counseling plans addressing academic, behavioral, social, and emotional needs
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions
- Support students with goal setting, self-advocacy, and personal growth
- Provide academic advising and course planning
Dean of Students / Discipline
- Lead student discipline and behavioral intervention systems
- Implement restorative and progressive discipline practices
- Assist students with conflict resolution and behavior management strategies
- Promote a positive school climate focused on accountability and respect
ESE / Student Support Services
- Coordinate and monitor IEPs, 504 Plans, accommodations, and progress monitoring
- Ensure compliance with special education and school requirements
- Collaborate with teachers to support students with diverse learning needs
- Maintain accurate documentation and student records
MTSS / Intervention
- Lead MTSS / RTI processes for Tier 2 and Tier 3 students
- Analyze academic and behavioral data
- Identify students needing additional intervention or support
- Facilitate intervention meetings with staff and families
Crisis & Mental Health Support
- Provide crisis intervention during urgent situations
- Offer support related to mental health and behavioral challenges
- Coordinate with community agencies, child welfare organizations, and external service providers when needed
- Help ensure student safety and emotional well-being
College & Career Readiness
- Guide middle and high school students in academic planning
- Support graduation tracking
- Assist with college applications and admissions planning
- Support NCAA / college eligibility awareness
- Help students prepare for postsecondary success
Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner with teachers to improve student engagement and social-emotional learning
- Communicate effectively with parents and families
- Promote cultural diversity and inclusion initiatives
- Participate in ongoing professional development
Qualifications
Preferred candidates will have:
- Bachelor’s degree required in:
- School Counseling
- Educational Leadership
- Exceptional Student Education (ESE)
- Psychology
- Social Work
- Related field
Preferred Experience
- School counseling
- Student discipline / dean role
- ESE / IEP / 504 compliance
- MTSS / RTI systems
- Mental health or behavioral counseling
- College readiness counseling
- Standardized testing coordination (preferred)
- Prior classroom teaching experience (a plus)
