Overview
Lan Do & Associates is seeking Medical & Community Interpreters to support language access for clients in healthcare, social services, government, legal, and community settings.
This is an independent contractor opportunity with flexible scheduling. Interpreters accept assignments based on their availability, language qualifications, and client needs. Many assignments are conducted remotely by phone or video, and remote assignments are frequently available. Some assignments may also take place in person at client locations within the listed service area.
In this role, you will help facilitate clear, accurate, and culturally sensitive communication between English-speaking professionals and limited-English-proficient clients, patients, families, and community members.
Duties
- Provide accurate interpretation between English and the target language during medical, social service, legal, government, and community assignments.
- Interpret in person, by phone, or by video depending on client needs and assignment type.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow professional interpreter ethics, including privacy and neutrality.
- Communicate clearly with Lan Do & Associates regarding availability, scheduling, and assignment details.
- Arrive on time and be prepared for scheduled in-person, phone, or video assignments.
- Support effective communication between clients, providers, staff, and community members.
- Follow client-site policies and assignment instructions when working in hospitals, clinics, offices, schools, agencies, or other professional settings.
Skills and Qualifications
- Fluency in English and at least one other language.
- Strong listening, memory, and verbal communication skills.
- Professional, reliable, and respectful demeanor.
- Ability to interpret accurately and remain neutral during sensitive conversations.
- Prior interpreting experience is preferred but not always required.
- Experience in healthcare, social services, legal, government, or community interpreting is a plus.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA, confidentiality standards, or interpreter ethics is helpful.

Pay: $25.00 - $50.00 per hour
