Navicon is a growing passionate construction boutique firm working to build the best-in-class high-end construction services in South-east Florida.
We are seeking for an eager Full-time Construction Estimator to develop and deliver full proposal packages for each of our bids in the high-end residential & commercial markets in projects ranging $600.000,00 to US$20.000.000,00. The Construction Estimator should obtain all relevant project specifications, determine the most appropriate building materials, and secure favorable prices on all resources. Should also inspect trends in construction to determine whether your estimates are both reasonable and competitive.
The Construction Estimator should be able to translate project requirements into concrete figures with ease.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Prepare detailed and accurate bids, cost estimates, and takeoffs covering all aspects of a building project.
- Assess project requirements by evaluating scope, schedule, labor needs, material costs, and equipment requirements.
- Collect and review all relevant documentation, including property surveys, architectural and engineering drawings, technical specifications, and permit requirements.
- Interpret blueprints, technical plans, and other applicable documents to prepare precise and comprehensive estimates.
- Prepare clear, detailed, and comprehensive scopes of work for RFPs (Requests for Proposals) to be sent to vendors and subcontractors.
- Organize and participate in workshops, calls, and meetings with clients and the design team to clarify any information needed to meet project objectives.
- Collaborate closely with contractors, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and completeness of estimates.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive RFIs (Requests for Information) to clarify project details with the design team and stakeholders.
- Visit project sites to evaluate existing conditions, verify measurements, and better understand logistical constraints.
- Obtain and compare multiple quotes from vendors and subcontractors, ensuring competitive pricing and adherence to specifications.
- Verify that all vendor and subcontractor cost proposals are accurate, complete, and aligned with project requirements.
- Negotiate with vendors and subcontractors to secure the most cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
- Develop detailed work plans and timelines to estimate the duration of each project phase.
- Perform thorough risk assessments to account for potential cost overruns, delays, or scope changes.
- Draft proposals and estimate packages detailing materials, labor, equipment, costs, and project timelines for client review.
- Meet with clients to present estimates, address concerns, and adjust proposals based on feedback.
- Maintain an organized database of historical project costs, vendor/subcontractor information, and market pricing trends for reference in future estimates.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, regulations, and company quality standards during the estimation process.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related fields.
- Knowledge of construction processes.
- Experience working in the construction industry.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Must have strong computer skills, especially advance knowledge on AutoCAD and similar software, Acrobat and spread sheets.
- Knowledge of how to read and comprehend blueprints.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to work effectively as a member of a team
- Assess projects by identifying project requirements, regarding time, labor, and material cost. Must have strong math and science skills.
