Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Custodian/Maintenance Worker to ensure our facilities remain clean, safe, and well-maintained. This vital role involves performing a variety of cleaning, custodial, and basic maintenance tasks to uphold high standards of sanitation and facility upkeep. Responsibilities
- Perform thorough cleaning of all areas including floors, restrooms, offices, and common spaces using appropriate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers and scrubbers.
- Handle chemical agents safely during cleaning processes, adhering strictly to chemical handling safety procedures.
- Conduct routine custodial tasks such as trash removal, dusting, mopping, sweeping, and sanitizing surfaces to ensure optimal sanitation standards.
- Maintain floors through buffing, polishing, and applying protective coatings to preserve their appearance and durability.
- Assist with light maintenance duties including minor repairs, painting residential or commercial spaces, and inspecting facilities for safety hazards.
- Operate cleaning equipment efficiently while following safety protocol adherence to prevent accidents or injuries.
- Support facilities maintenance by reporting repair needs promptly and assisting with heavy lifting or manual handling tasks following safe lifting practices.
Qualifications
- Proven janitorial or custodial experience with a strong understanding of commercial cleaning techniques.
- Familiarity with cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, scrubbers, and vacuums.
- Knowledge of chemical agent handling safety procedures and sanitation standards.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and follow safety protocols diligently.
- Experience in industrial cleaning or Porter roles is preferred; residential painting or facilities maintenance experience is a plus.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, lift heavy objects, and perform manual tasks throughout shifts effectively.
