Duties
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal service to promote healthy eating habits
- Conduct patient observation and monitor vital signs to ensure health status is stable and report any concerns promptly
- Maintain cleanliness of living spaces by performing thorough cleaning tasks in accordance with health standards
- Support residents with medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation while adhering to HIPAA regulations
- Assist with medication management, including reminders and proper storage, following care plans established by healthcare professionals
- Engage in dementia, Alzheimer’s, memory care, or neurodevelopmental disorder-specific activities to promote cognitive engagement and emotional well-being
- Support residents’ participation in social activities and community outings to foster social interaction and independence
- Follow all safety protocols including CPR, first aid procedures, and manual handling techniques to ensure a secure environment for all
Skills
- Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or neurodevelopmental disorders in group home or home health settings
- Strong knowledge of patient care practices including vital signs monitoring, medication administration, and dementia or Alzheimer’s care
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of resident information
- Ability to perform light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning common areas and personal spaces effectively
- Excellent observational skills for patient monitoring and recognizing changes in health status or behavior
- Experience supporting residents with disabilities or geriatrics through personalized care plans and assistance with ADLs
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting, manual handling, assisting with transfers using Hoyer lifts or other equipment, and supporting mobility needs
