Job Description:
The purpose of this position is to provide professional and technical maintenance of various appurtenances associated with roadways, bridges, pavement markings, drainage systems, as well as, other activities associated with improving the appearance, safety, and condition of the system. This is accomplished by driving and operating various vehicles and equipment, large trucks, tractors, forklifts, sweepers, snow and ice equipment and providing traffic control on the system. This position will be required to implement traffic control plans. Other duties including making repairs and assisting others with inspections and preventative maintenance, as well as, responding to emergencies, responding to weather-related emergencies, and completing special projects as assigned.

Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with the removal, replacement, repair, and installation of guard rail, attenuators, fences, pavement, median barrier, bridge rail, and other appurtenances.
- Assist with removal of all litter and/or debris within NTTA’s maintenance limits by operating a sweeper, vacuum truck, and other equipment as necessary.
- Participate in Snow and Ice Events by preparing, operating, and cleaning various pieces of equipment and vehicles.
- The inspection, installation, removal, repair, replacing, and maintaining various types of pavement markings and related appurtenances.
- The inspection, installation, removal, repair, replacement, and/or rotation of signs.
- Operate equipment, vehicles, signs, and other traffic control items to perform the installation, maintenance, and inspection of lane closures, shoulder closures, and other traffic control plans.
- Proper operation and inspection of all NTTA equipment, tools, and vehicles, before and after use. Reporting any damage and/or failures in accordance with established procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to cope with job related stress including but not limited to deadlines, customer, supervisory and staff interactions, multi-tasking and high work volumes is required.
Job Requirements:
- Formal Education: Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.
- Experience: Over one up to and including three years, preferably in maintenance and/or construction.
- Supervision: Job has no responsibility for the direction or supervision of others.
- Human Collaboration Skills: Work requires regular interaction involving exchange and receipt of information.
- Freedom to Act: Receives General Direction: The employee normally performs the job by following established standard operating procedures and/or policies. There is a choice of the appropriate procedure or policy to apply to duties. Performance is reviewed periodically.
- Technical Skills: Basic: Work requires the use of standard technical skills appropriate to the work environment of the organization.
- Budget Responsibility: None.
- Reading: Basic - Ability to recognize meaning of common two- or three-syllable words. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in elementary school up to high school.
- Math: Basic - Ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in elementary school up to high school.
- Reading: Basic - Ability to write simple sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and/or series of numbers, names, and addresses. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in elementary school up to high school.
- Certification & Other Requirements: Valid Class B CDL upon hire and must obtain Class A CDL within 6 months of hire. Ability to obtain necessary CDL endorsements.
