JOB DESCRIPTION Laboratory Technician I
Location: Deer Park, TX
Position Summary:
A leading laboratory services organization is seeking a Laboratory Technician I to perform routine laboratory testing and support chemical and physical analysis procedures under supervision. This entry-level laboratory role focuses on operating lab equipment, preparing samples and chemical solutions, assisting with instrument calibration, maintaining laboratory cleanliness, and following strict safety and analytical standards.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct and assist with basic analytical testing using ASTM, UOP, IP, and other industry standards
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment after training certification
- Prepare chemical solutions and complete laboratory data documentation
- Clean and sterilize laboratory instruments and work areas
- Support calibration activities and quality assurance procedures
- Follow all laboratory safety, environmental, and compliance policies
- Participate in petroleum, chemical, and gas analysis training programs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field preferred
- Laboratory experience will be considered in lieu of education
- Strong understanding of analytical laboratory practices and safety procedures
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Frequent use of hands for handling laboratory tools and equipment
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to work in laboratory environments with petroleum or chemical odors within OSHA permissible exposure limits
- Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required
- Laboratory setting with potential exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals
Moderate noise environment
- Compliance with all laboratory safety and environmental policies is required
