MARS Energy EPC – Midwest is entering a new phase of growth, and we’re looking for multiple licensed electricians at the Journeyman level or above to join our field team. You’ll work hands-on across Utility-Scale and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects throughout the Midwest. In this role, you won’t just install systems- you’ll lead on-site execution, support safety excellence, and mentor the next generation of apprentices.
Licensing Requirement:
A valid electrical license (Journeyman, Master, or equivalent contractor-level license) is required for this role.
This is not a role where unlicensed work experience qualifies as a substitute. Licensing is required to meet Illinois apprenticeship ratio regulations and to maintain compliance during audits.

Must reside in the greater Chicagoland area or be willing to relocate prior to start date.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

This is a 100% travel position. Project assignments may be located throughout Illinois and the Midwest region, including Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, and other surrounding states as business needs dictate.

Employees should expect frequent travel and may be required to stay overnight for several days or multiple weeks at a time depending on project location and duration.

MARS Energy provides travel accommodation in accordance with company policy. Depending on project location and travel distance, employees may qualify for company paid lodging, per diem, and/or mileage reimbursement.
- Candidates must be willing and able to travel extensively throughout the Midwest and work away from home for extended periods when required by project needs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Travel to project sites throughout Illinois and the Midwest region as required to support utility-scale solar, C&I solar, and BESS construction projects.

Install, repair, and maintain electrical components and systems in accordance with National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations.

Perform wiring, conduit installation, panel mounting, and terminations for solar PV systems.

Conduct testing and troubleshooting to ensure the integrity and safety of electrical systems and components.

Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical specifications.

Ensure all installations meet MARS quality and safety standards.

Collaborate with other trades and project teams to ensure timely and efficient project completion.

Mentor apprentices and less experienced electricians, ensuring they adhere to company safety and performance standards.

Adhere to all company and industry safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures.

Report and sign off on apprentice OJT (on the job training) hours to the electrical superintendent.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

Journeyman license or equivalent required

Advanced classroom training of electrical theory and code required

OSHA 10 / 30 certification strongly preferred

High school diploma required
EXPERIENCE:
-
3+ years of experience in commercial or industrial electrical within the Solar industry preferred.

4+ years of general electrical experience with the ability to prove hours required.

Must have in-depth knowledge of NEC Code and OSHA 1926 Construction standards.

Experience working with Three Phase Services (208V and 480V).
-
OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus.

Must maintain a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and a clean MVR to support travel requirements.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

Must have in depth knowledge of NEC Code and OSHA 1926 Construction standards.

Ability to find and reference NEC codes as it relates to each project.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Acute attention to detail with excellent communication skills.

Ability to work in various conditions, including rooftops of any height/pitch, ladders, and confined spaces.

Ability to lift, pull, push materials up to 50lbs. consistently to complete assigned job tasks.

Ability to meet hard and fast deadlines while managing multiple projects.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. consistently throughout the workday.

Able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb ladders or stairs for extended periods.

Comfortable working in elevated positions, including rooftops of varying heights and pitches, aerial lifts, and scaffolding.

Must be able to work in confined spaces and tight electrical enclosures as required by project scope.

Willing and able to work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, wind) typical of Midwest job sites.

Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently for prolonged periods.

Must be capable of driving long distances to project sites and maintaining alertness during travel (clean MVR required).

Regularly required to do Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, harnesses, and arc flash gear.

Ability to communicate clearly on noisy, active construction sites using both verbal instruction and hand signals.
