Job Title: Clinical Informatics and Support Specialist
General Summary Duties: Serves as practice coordinator for health information systems and clinical mentor
Supervision Received: Reports to the Clinical Services Director
Supervision Exercised: EHR Support Staff
Typical Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires frequent mobility and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours. Must be able to travel independently throughout the offices as needed.
This is not a remote position. It does require the incumbent to work on-site in locations throughout Lee County.
Examples of Duties: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Maintains health informatics application and procedures.
- Reviews, evaluates and implements requests from users on health informatics systems.
- Implements and tests updates, enhancements and new releases.
- Analyzes problems, determines cause and initiates corrective action.
- Supports and implements Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and innovations.
- New provider training and support.
- New hire orientation training.
- Provides in-service and other forms of continuing education of software and hardware to users.
- Coordinates new software applications with user departments.
- Has a working knowledge of all health informatics software modules. Ability to troubleshoot with hardware problems.
- Takes independent action to correct problems encountered during systems operations within authority level.
- Coordinates Medical Assistant Apprentice program including candidate selection, rotation assignment, training, support, liaison with online instructor and acts as the clinic mentor for the program.
- Enhance patient care by maintaining high level of interaction with clinical staff.
- Share on-call duties with other individuals within Information Services.
- Implementation of new initiatives.
- Ability to work independently, while collaborating with other team members.
- Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with providers and staff.
- Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and protected health information (PHI) in a manner consistent with HIPAA.
- Bilingual staff may be called upon to interpret if needed provided the employee speaks the needed language and is available to interpret.
- Performs related work as required.

Education:
Associates degree in computer science or related field preferred.
Experience:
Requires two (2) or more years of computer experience.
Certificate/License:
Possession of a State License in nursing
