J.C. Communications is seeking an experienced Senior Telecommunications Estimator to join our growing team. This position is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) telecommunications infrastructure projects throughout Texas.
The ideal candidate will have experience estimating fiber optic construction, structured cabling, low-voltage systems, and communications infrastructure projects. This role works closely with project managers, operations personnel, vendors, and customers to develop winning proposals while maintaining profitability and project accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Perform site visits and field assessments as needed.
- Review plans, specifications, drawings, and RFP documents.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and project timelines.
- Develop estimates for:
- Fiber optic construction
- Aerial fiber projects
- Underground fiber projects
- Fiber splicing and testing
- Structured cabling systems
- Low-voltage communications infrastructure
- Wireless, security, and AV systems
- Prepare bid packages and proposal documents.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing.
- Assist with project handoff to operations after award.
- Track bid results and support continuous improvement of estimating processes.
- Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of estimating experience in telecommunications, low-voltage, utility, electrical, or construction-related industries.
- Ability to read plans, specifications, and RFP documents.
- Experience performing quantity takeoffs and developing detailed project estimates.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with OSP fiber construction estimating.
- Experience with ISP and structured cabling projects.
- Knowledge of DIR, TIPS, or MiCTA cooperative purchasing programs.
- Experience estimating TXDOT or Heavy Highway projects.
- Telecommunications, low-voltage, or electrical construction background.
- BICSI, RCDD, CTS, or related industry certifications.
