Dishwasher / Prep Cook
Position Summary
The Dishwasher / Prep Cook is an essential member of the kitchen team responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment while assisting with food preparation. This role ensures the kitchen operates efficiently by keeping dishes, cookware, and equipment clean and supporting cooks with prep tasks throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities
Dishwashing & Sanitation
- Wash, rinse, and sanitize all dishes, glassware, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment.
- Keep the dish station clean, organized, and fully stocked with cleaning supplies.
- Properly operate commercial dishwashing equipment.
- Empty trash and recycling throughout the shift.
- Clean floors, drains, walls, shelving, coolers, and other kitchen areas.
- Follow all health department sanitation standards and food safety procedures.
- Assist with end-of-day cleaning and kitchen closing duties.
Food Preparation
- Wash, peel, chop, slice, and portion vegetables, fruits, meats, cheeses, and other ingredients.
- Prepare sauces, dressings, marinades, and other recipes according to build sheets and chef specifications.
- Label, date, rotate, and properly store all prepared products (FIFO).
- Assist cooks with stocking their stations before and during service.
- Maintain clean and organized prep areas.
General Kitchen Support
- Receive and organize deliveries.
- Rotate inventory and report low stock or quality issues to management.
- Keep walk-ins, freezers, and dry storage clean and organized.
- Help wherever needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining quality standards.
Qualifications
- Previous kitchen experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right person.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong work ethic with a positive attitude.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to follow recipes and directions accurately.
- Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices is a plus.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the kitchen team.
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Bend, squat, reach, and perform repetitive movements.
- Work safely around hot equipment, sharp tools, and slippery surfaces.
- Comfortable working in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment.

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
