Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of respiratory care, critical care procedures, and emergency response protocols. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a vital role in assessing, treating, and monitoring patients with respiratory conditions across various hospital settings, including intensive care units, emergency departments, and outpatient clinics. Your expertise will contribute to delivering exceptional patient-centered care while ensuring safety and compliance with healthcare standards.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to evaluate respiratory function, vital signs, and overall clinical status.
- Administer respiratory therapy treatments such as oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and ventilator management in accordance with physician orders.
- Operate and monitor advanced medical equipment including ventilators, airway management devices, and other respiratory support systems.
- Respond promptly to cardiac arrest emergencies and participate in resuscitation efforts following established protocols.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans for patients with complex respiratory needs.
- Maintain accurate documentation within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding respiratory conditions, medication use, and post-discharge care instructions.
- Stay current with advancements in pulmonology, critical care practices, and medical terminology to enhance patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from an accredited organization is required.
- Proven experience in hospital medicine with specialization in critical care environments such as ICU or PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit).
- Demonstrated proficiency in airway management techniques and ventilator operation.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and pulmonology principles relevant to respiratory therapy.
- Experience working within emergency medicine settings and Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation and patient record management.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
- Ability to perform patient assessments accurately and respond effectively during acute care situations.
- Excellent communication skills combined with technical proficiency in medical equipment operation.
- Prior outpatient or clinic experience involving respiratory therapy is advantageous; neonatal resuscitation procedures knowledge is a plus.
