Job Summary
Join our dynamic Environmental Services (EVS) team as a Housekeeping Associate dedicated to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within healthcare facilities. In this vital role, you will be responsible for executing thorough cleaning and sanitation procedures across patient areas, public spaces, and staff zones. Duties
- Perform comprehensive cleaning of patient rooms, operating rooms, corridors, restrooms, and public areas using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment.
- Handle laundry duties including sorting, washing, folding, and distributing linens and uniforms in accordance with healthcare protocols.
- Safely operate cleaning machinery such as floor buffers, vacuums, and steam cleaners to ensure optimal sanitation and floor care.
- Follow strict chemical handling procedures for disinfectants, cleaning agents, and other hazardous materials in compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards.
- Adhere to safety protocols during manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting or moving equipment to prevent injuries.
- Maintain a high level of sanitation by following infection prevention and control guidelines specific to healthcare environments.
- Use proper custodial techniques to ensure all surfaces are sanitized effectively while respecting environmental services standards.
- Document cleaning activities accurately in logs or digital systems as required by hospital policies.
- Support environmental services operations by managing waste disposal and ensuring compliance with health regulations.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills by interacting professionally with staff, patients, visitors, and other team members.
Experience
- Prior janitorial or custodial experience in healthcare facilities or commercial cleaning environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA safety standards related to chemical handling and manual lifting practices.
- Experience operating cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, or steam cleaners is advantageous.
- Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention protocols and sanitation procedures is a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while following safe lifting practices.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards in fast-paced settings.
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork and customer service within healthcare environments.
