Auntie Nikki's is seeking a passionate, dependable, and motivated NM PreK Assistant Teacher to join our PreK team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early childhood educator who is committed to providing high-quality learning experiences and making a lasting impact in the lives of young children.
You'll work alongside our Lead PreK Teacher in a collaborative co-teaching classroom, where both educators actively participate in planning, teaching, assessing, and creating a positive learning environment. While New Mexico PreK requires designated Lead and Assistant Teacher roles, we believe in teamwork, shared responsibility, and supporting one another every day.

What You'll Do
- Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences aligned with New Mexico PreK Standards.
- Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development.
- Complete classroom observations, assist with assessments, and maintain required documentation.
- Foster positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Use positive guidance strategies to support children's behavior and development.
- Follow all ECECD regulations, licensing requirements, and Auntie Nikki's Daycare policies.
- Participate in staff meetings, required trainings, and professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
Minimum Qualifications
✔ Must meet, or be eligible to meet, New Mexico PreK Standards and ECECD requirements for a PreK Assistant Teacher.
✔ Must have an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education OR be currently enrolled in an accredited Early Childhood Education program and actively working toward an Associate's Degree.
✔ Previous experience working with preschool or PreK-aged children preferred.
✔ Strong communication, teamwork, professionalism, and classroom management skills.
✔ Must be at least 18 years old.
✔ CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire).
✔ Must successfully pass all required background checks and meet all state licensing requirements.
