Job Summary
Zappy’s Auto Care Center is hiring an experienced Automotive Lube and Tire Technician to perform complete oil changes, tire services, brake inspections, TPMS service, and routine preventive maintenance.
This is not a trainee position. Applicants must have at least one year of paid, hands-on experience working in an automotive repair shop, dealership, quick-lube facility, or tire shop.
The technician must be able to perform the required services independently and must provide their own basic automotive hand tools.
No ASE or other professional certifications are required.
Required Skills and Responsibilities
- Safely drive, position, rack, and lift vehicles on an automotive service lift
- Identify the correct vehicle lifting points and properly secure vehicles before beginning work
- Perform complete oil and filter changes without supervision
- Select the correct oil type, viscosity, quantity, and filter for each vehicle
- Properly remove and reinstall drain plugs and oil filters
- Refill oil to the correct level, inspect for leaks, and verify completed work
- Reset oil-life and maintenance reminder systems when required
- Mount, dismount, balance, and rotate tires
- Safely operate a professional tire-changing machine and wheel balancer
- Diagnose and repair eligible tire punctures
- Inspect tire condition, tread depth, wear patterns, and air pressure
- Inspect, replace, service, program, and relearn TPMS sensors
- Diagnose common TPMS warning-light and sensor issues
- Inspect brake pads, rotors, calipers, and visible brake components
- Accurately report brake measurements, wear, damage, and safety concerns
- Inspect fluids, filters, belts, hoses, and other basic vehicle components
- Identify and communicate additional vehicle maintenance and safety concerns
- Accurately document completed services
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Required Qualifications
- At least one year of paid professional experience as a lube technician, tire technician, automotive technician, oil change technician, or automotive service technician
- Ability to safely rack and lift vehicles without supervision
- Ability to independently perform a complete oil and filter change
- Experience operating a professional tire-changing machine and wheel balancer
- Experience servicing, replacing, and relearning TPMS sensors
- Ability to properly inspect brakes and identify visible wear or safety concerns
- Must provide your own basic automotive mechanic’s hand tools
- Ability to safely lift and handle tires, wheels, equipment, and automotive parts
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work efficiently without sacrificing quality or safety
- Ability to follow shop procedures and work as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience performing basic brake services
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Work Schedule
- Full-time position scheduled for approximately 40 hours per week
- Five-day workweek consisting of four weekdays and Saturday
- Monday through Friday scheduling window: 7:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
- Saturday schedule: 7:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
- One scheduled day off Monday through Friday
- Every Sunday off
- Saturday availability is required
- Exact daily start, end, and break times will be assigned to maintain an approximately 40-hour workweek
Compensation
- $18–$20 per hour
- Starting pay is based on professional automotive experience and demonstrated ability
