Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care strategies
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow
- Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols
- Review and update medical records accurately, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Monitor and record vital signs and medical information to support comprehensive patient care
- Maintain aseptic technique and infection control standards throughout all procedures
- Use dental terminology precisely when documenting patient interactions and treatment plans
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current credentials
- Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably with pediatric dentistry or general dentistry practices
- Proficiency in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, dental terminology, medical coding, and documentation review processes
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient rapport
- Familiarity with infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and collaborate with team members
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles is a plus but not required
