About Wright Electric
Wright Electric builds power systems behind the future of aerospace and defense — from 30 kW expeditionary generators to multi-megawatt airborne propulsion. Our work spans electric motors, next-generation batteries, power electronics, and complete power systems like DenseGen and Dynamo, all engineered for a step-change in power and energy density. Since 2016, we've earned the trust of some of the most demanding customers in the world, including AFSOC, the USMC, PACAF, USTRANSCOM, NASA, ARPA-E, the FAA, and U.S. Air Force programs. It's genuinely cutting-edge work.
We also move fast. Wright is an all-hands, high-ownership environment where the pace is quick and the problems are hard. The people who thrive here are the ones who dig in and drive their work to the finish. At the same time, we know sustained great work depends on rest: we respect our team's personal time and protect the boundaries that keep people sharp, healthy, and here for the long haul.
The Role
Wright Electric is hiring a Military Business Development / Sales Manager to drive sales of our electrification systems — electrical power generation, small power grids, aircraft propulsion, and energy storage — to the U.S. military. You'll develop and execute the military sales strategy, cultivate relationships with program offices, contracting agencies, and decision-makers, and own sales programs from inception through contract. Focus areas include Special Forces, Expeditionary Energy, and Rapid Response, with an initial rough-order-of-magnitude target of $20M in annual sales.
This role is an ideal fit for a transitioning military officer who has worked within the procurement system (for example, in the Pentagon), or for a seasoned aerospace and defense business development professional. Either way, you bring an engineering background, a proven record of selling technical products directly to the U.S. military and private companies, and the credibility to communicate complex systems — from data sheets to program value — to military stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Military Sales Strategy — Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to drive sales of Wright's electrification products — power generation, small power grid, aircraft propulsion, and energy storage — to the U.S. military, with focus areas including Special Forces, Expeditionary Energy, and Rapid Response.
- Military Procurement — Navigate and manage small-business military procurement processes, working with program offices and contracting agencies across programs such as SBIR, STRATFI, and OTA.
- Business Development — Identify and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders in the military sector — program offices, contracting agencies, and decision-makers.
- Technical Expertise — Leverage your engineering background to understand and communicate the technical aspects of Wright's products, including data sheets for generators, motors, inverters, and aerospace components.
- Sales Program Management —Take ownership of sales programs from inception through execution, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Contract Negotiation — Lead negotiations with military clients, securing favorable terms and conditions for both parties.
- Product Knowledge — Stay abreast of advances in electric aviation and power-generation technology, and maintain a comprehensive understanding of Wright's product offerings.
