In-Person Lead Literacy Instructor Position Description: Pontiac, MI

Position Description: The Center for Success Network In-Person Lead Literacy Instructor hosts and facilitates both small/whole group lessons, oversees 1-1 literacy mentor sessions, ensures materials are available and accessible, and engages consistently with youth, mentors, and families.
Job responsibilities include:
- Deliver whole group literacy lessons to elementary aged students
- 2 days weekly in Pontiac
- Support and supervise volunteers
- Sending consistent daily reminders to families
- Monitor and support students
- Develop and maintain positive, connected, solution oriented relationships with caregivers and students
- Ensure timely and accurate records of mentor and student attendance and enrollment information
- Complete pre - assessments, mid year assessments, and end of year assessments for every student, and sharing feedback with mentors and caregivers.
- Meet regularly with leadership staff to maximize program quality and provide staff voice and input.
- Regular meetings include 1 monthly 2 hour staff meeting, a 60 minute team meeting every 2 to 4 weeks, 30 minute weekly 1-1 check ins, and consistent attendance to Equity Learning Community meetings, and consistent participation in the June and September week of Professional Development

Preferred Qualifications: The successful candidate must believe in the core organizational values of Center for Success Network and be driven by the organization’s mission and vision. We are seeking a high-energy Lead Literacy Mentor who is mission-driven and self-directed, skilled in volunteer management, and excited about working in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- A clear understanding of academic and literacy development and a passion for working to help children succeed
- Highly organized organizational skills
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
- Commitment to efficient use of resources
- Experience managing a large number of volunteers and supervising multiple staff Members
- Experience with email, databases, Microsoft Office software, Google Applications.
Compensation: 12 hours weekly at $18-$20/hour or commensurate with experience, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00 - 5:00 are onsite hours.
