Responsibilities
- Develop and implement customized vocal training programs tailored to students’ skill levels and goals.
- Deliver engaging online lessons that incorporate vocal techniques, performance skills, and musical expression.
- Create comprehensive lesson plans that include warm-ups, exercises, repertoire selection, and performance preparation.
- Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their vocal technique, stage presence, and overall confidence.
- Incorporate teaching visual & performing arts, choreography, theater experience, and creative arts instruction into lessons when appropriate.
- Manage classroom dynamics effectively by applying behavior management strategies suitable for children, youth programs, or adult learners.
- Track student progress regularly and adjust lesson plans to meet individual developmental needs.
Requirements
- Deliver Lessons: Conduct highly engaging, live 1-on-1 virtual vocal music lessons via Zoom or dedicated virtual classroom software.
- RCM Exam Prep: Guide students systematically through The RCM Voice Syllabus, including repertoire selection, vocalises, technical tests, ear training (clapback/singback), and sight-singing.Integrate
- Theory: Ensure students understand foundational corequisites and musicianship appropriate for their RCM grade level.
- Monitor Progress: Provide clear, constructive feedback during sessions and assign actionable weekly practice routines.Communicate: Maintain brief, regular progress updates for students and parents.
QualificationsEducation:
Bachelor’s degree in Music, Vocal Performance, Music Education, or equivalent professional conservatory credentials.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of formal voice teaching experience (experience teaching online is highly preferred).Syllabus Knowledge: Direct familiarity with the structure and assessment criteria of The Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Voice Series.Accompaniment Skills: Intermediate piano proficiency to record or provide live backing chord tracks during virtual sessions is an asset.Tech Setup: Access to a high-speed, reliable internet connection, a high-quality external microphone, an audio interface, and a professional, quiet home studio background
