Job Summary
Growing ophthalmology office in San Antonio looking for full-time ophthalmic technicians for our busy practice assisting surgeons and optometrists with diagnostic testing, preliminary screenings, procedures, and administrative tasks. A strong work ethic, good attendance, and people skills are a must. Candidates must also be team players. Our office is a fast-paced, friendly work environment with a commitment to excellent patient care. Spanish speaking is a definite plus.
Duties
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Building rapport with patients and documenting ocular and medical histories
- Performing various scans, imaging and tests using ophthalmic instruments that provide essential patient data: OCT, autorefractor, pentacam topography, optical biometry, visual acuity, intraocular pressure, extra ocular movement/motility, visual fields, BAT test, A-Scan ultrasonography, ultrasound biomicroscopy, and Fundus fluorescein angiography.
- Administering physician directed ocular medications and oral medication for testing, treatment and procedures
- Inputting patients' ocular and medical history, History of Present Illness and Chief Complaint into their Electronic Medical Record
- Intermittently assisting physicians during minor procedures, including instrumentation, preparations, and documentation
- Aiding in patient education pertaining to procedures offered, treatment available, and medications prescribed
- Upholding HIPAA requirements
- Maintaining professional appearance and conduct, a positive attitude, and self-motivation
- Maintaining efficiency and accuracy during high volume clinic
- Cleaning and re-stocking exam rooms with medical supplies
- Working as a team player, striving for cohesiveness within the department and effectively working with other departments
- Demonstrating reliability in attendance and punctuality
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong anatomy knowledge and understanding of ophthalmology principles.
- Experience working with electronic medical records (EMRs) such as ModMed.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate medical records.
- Ability to provide patient-centered care and support the ophthalmology team in achieving excellent patient outcomes.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
