Duties
- Support physical therapists by preparing treatment areas, equipment, and supplies for therapy sessions.
- Assist patients with mobility, transfers, and exercises using proper patient transfer methods and manual handling techniques.
- Monitor patient progress during therapy sessions, ensuring safety and comfort at all times.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes while respecting patient confidentiality.
- Help with patient intake procedures, including gathering medical history and explaining therapy processes clearly.
- Ensure the cleanliness, organization, and sterilization of therapy equipment in compliance with health standards.
- Communicate effectively with patients to provide encouragement, answer questions, and promote a positive therapeutic environment.
Requirements
- Prior experience practicing in a physical therapy or rehabilitation role is highly preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and post-acute care practices.
- Experience working in hospital or inpatient settings with geriatric or orthopedic patients is advantageous.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist with patient transfers using proper techniques.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
