We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Child Care Center Director to lead a preschool and early learning center in Victorville, California.
The center is an established childcare facility that has served the community for many years and is anticipated to reopen under new ownership. The facility has multiple classrooms, dedicated children’s play areas, and capacity for approximately 50+ children.
This is an opportunity for the right Director to take an active role in building a high-quality childcare program from the ground up while having the resources and support of ownership behind them.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for more than someone to simply manage the daily schedule. We want an experienced childcare professional who can take ownership of the center’s day-to-day operations and help create a safe, welcoming, organized, and successful environment for children, parents, and staff.
The ideal candidate has previous experience as a Preschool Director, Child Care Center Director, Assistant Director, or similar leadership role and has a strong understanding of California childcare licensing requirements.
Responsibilities
The Director will be responsible for overseeing the center’s daily childcare operations, including:
- Maintaining compliance with California Community Care Licensing requirements and Title 22 regulations
- Preparing the facility for licensing and inspections
- Recruiting, interviewing, training, scheduling, and supervising teachers and support staff
- Maintaining required employee and child records
- Ensuring proper teacher-to-child ratios at all times
- Managing classroom operations and curriculum standards
- Creating a positive culture for employees, children, and families
- Handling parent communication, tours, enrollment, and retention
- Helping develop policies and procedures for the center
- Monitoring attendance and staffing levels
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized facility
- Supporting enrollment growth and community outreach
- Working directly with ownership on budgeting, staffing, purchasing, and center performance
- Ensuring the center remains prepared for licensing visits and inspections
Qualifications
Applicants should:
- Meet California Child Care Center Director qualification requirements
- Have the required Early Childhood Education (ECE) coursework and experience
- Have previous experience working in a licensed childcare center
- Have strong knowledge of California Community Care Licensing and Title 22 requirements
- Have prior supervisory or management experience
- Be able to pass all required background checks and clearances
- Maintain required CPR/First Aid and health and safety certifications
- Have excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Strong preference will be given to candidates who have previously served as a Director or Assistant Director of a California-licensed childcare center.
Compensation
$65,000–$80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
Performance-based compensation opportunities may also be available based on center performance, enrollment, compliance, and other mutually agreed-upon goals.
Why This Position Is Different
This isn’t an opportunity to simply step into someone else’s system.
The selected Director will have the opportunity to help shape the culture, staffing, procedures, curriculum, and overall direction of a newly operated childcare center.
Ownership will focus on the business, financial, marketing, and facility side of the operation while relying on an experienced Director to lead the childcare and educational side.
We are looking for someone who wants to build something they can be proud of and grow with the organization long-term.
