Bus Aide – Content Support
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing supervision and care for children ages birth to 5 years old during school bus transportation to and from the Head Start and Early Head Start centers. The Bus Aide must be able to provide direct assistance to the children when boarding and departing the bus and work cooperatively while maintaining effective communication with parents and staff involved in coordinating student transportation services. There is an immediate opening in Oakland, MD, but applications can be used for 6 months for positions throughout Garrett County.
This is a permanent, part-time position, approximately 20-25 hours per week, with the opportunity for additional hours substituting in classrooms and kitchens between bus runs. With an hourly rate of pay ranging from $15.38 to $21.96 per hour, this position offers a Monday-Friday split-shift schedule and paid holidays, vacation days and sick days prorated based upon hours worked. We provide a life insurance policy and, for employees working a minimum of 10 hours per week, we provide participation in the Maryland State Retirement and Pension system.
Minimum Qualifications: HS Diploma or GED, must be 19 years old and be physically able to assist children on and off the bus which may include carrying infants and toddlers.
The applicant must pass criminal and CPS background checks, possess a valid driver’s license and meet other pre-employment hiring criteria.
