Management Consulting Firm requires Classification Specialist. Successful candidates will have at a minimum of 5 years of relevant Federal job classification experience. Classification Specialist will be familiar with federal staffing regulations and tools, including quick tool. Federal government experience is required.
Responsibilities:
- Classifying positions to correct pay plan, title, series and grade per OPM Guidelines.
- Determine correct Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) for reviewed positions
- Communicating with requesting officials to obtain additional or to clarify duties/responsibilities in proposed position descriptions
- Preparing written evaluation statements to substantiate findings in appropriate format using proper classification standards
- Writing position descriptions
- Conduct Desk Audits as required preparing audit questionnaires, developing audit report based on the administrative record and employee and supervisory interviews, and preparing an evaluation statement based on a thorough analysis of the position information and applicable classification standard(s).
- Providing advice and assistance to program officials on operating classification matters pertaining to new or revised organizational structure (reorganization, functional changes)
- Writing and classifying a full range of position descriptions using Office of Personnel Management position description formats and classification standards for general schedule, wage grade, senior executive service, and excepted service positions
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant Federal job classification experience
- Experience writing job descriptions
- Demonstrated ability to conduct desk audit interviews with employees utilizing the Factor evaluation System
- Demonstrated ability to apply the appropriate U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) classification standard to the existing or proposed position descriptions
- Strong oral and written communication skills
