Position Summary
Under minimal supervision, a Welder / Fabricator is responsible for reading blueprints and technical drawings, fabricating metal components, and performing various welding techniques to assemble products according to specifications. A strong attention to detail, safety, and craftsmanship is essential in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Ability to create and customize metal products to meet customer orders
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and fabrication drawings
- Cut, shape, and weld metal components using various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick, etc.)
- Measure and inspect materials to ensure conformance to specifications
- Operate fabrication machinery including grinders, saws, shears, and presses
- Ability to operate a plasma cutter and an oxy-acetylene torch
- Perform layout and fitting of metal components prior to welding
- Maintain equipment and tools in safe working condition
- Follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE at all times
- Assist in the installation and assembly of finished products as needed
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Ability to learn and operate a forklift and/ or a crane and other lifting devices
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to learn working with certain materials such as aluminum or stainless steel
- Assemble and install piping and associated field equipment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; trade school or welding certification preferred
- 2+ years of welding and metal fabrication experience
- Ability to travel up to 50% of time
- Proficient in MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding
- Ability to read technical drawings and use precision measuring tools
- Strong knowledge of metal types and welding properties
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
- Valid driver license with clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and customer service.
