Rice Medical Center is seeking a dependable and team-oriented Hospital Cook to join our Dietary Department. This position prepares meals for patients, staff, and visitors while following food safety standards and therapeutic diet requirements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to recipes and diet requirements
- Maintain food quality, portion control, and sanitation standards
- Assist with tray line and meal service
- Operate kitchen equipment safely
- Clean and sanitize kitchen areas and equipment
- Follow HACCP, infection control, and food safety guidelines
- Assist with inventory and stocking as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous cooking or food service experience preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Food Handler’s Permit or ServSafe Certification required within 30 days of hire
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Weekend and holiday shifts may be required.
