Job Summary
Beniton Construction Company is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team. In this full-charge bookkeeping role, you will manage the day-to-day financial transactions for our established construction business using Acumatica ERP software. You will ensure accurate recording of project costs, timely processing of invoices and payments, and reliable financial reporting while supporting project managers and leadership with job costing and budget oversight.
The ideal candidate has strong experience in construction accounting, proficiency with Acumatica (or similar ERP systems), and a solid understanding of job costing, progress billing, retainage, and compliance requirements specific to the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
Core Bookkeeping & Data Entry in Acumatica
- Enter and maintain project budgets in Acumatica, including updates for change orders and budget modifications.
- Process and enter general invoices, contractor pay applications, and bills into Acumatica with proper job costing allocation.
- Manage accounts payable (AP): review, code, and process vendor and subcontractor invoices for payment, including handling retainage where applicable.
- Manage accounts receivable (AR): prepare and issue client invoices/progress billings, track payments, and follow up on aging receivables.
- Maintain accurate corporate vendor accounts, including setting up new vendors, updating information, and ensuring compliance documentation (e.g., W-9s, 1099’s, lien waivers).
Reconciliation & Financial Controls
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial accounts on a monthly basis.
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure all transactions are properly coded to projects, cost codes, and GL accounts.
Construction-Specific Financial Tasks
- Support job costing by accurately allocating labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and overhead to individual projects.
- Assist with progress billing, AIA-style documentation, and tracking of work-in-progress (WIP).
- Monitor project budgets versus actual costs and flag potential variances or overruns for project managers.
Reporting & Compliance
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
- Ensure compliance with Idaho state and federal requirements, including sales tax, use tax, payroll taxes, and prevailing wage regulations common in construction.
- Maintain organized financial records and support external accountants or auditors as required.
Additional Duties
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and operations teams to provide accurate financial data for decision-making.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in financial workflows within Acumatica.
- Handle other bookkeeping tasks as assigned to support the overall financial health of the company.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required:
- 3–5+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Proficiency with Acumatica ERP (or comparable construction accounting software such as Sage, or Viewpoint).
- Strong understanding of construction-specific concepts: job costing, project budgeting, progress billing, retainage, change orders, and lien waivers.
- Solid knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with non-finance team members.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
Preferred:
- Experience with bookkeeping in a construction environment.
- Familiarity with Idaho construction regulations.
- Bookkeeping certification (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper) or associate’s/bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance.
- Knowledge of AIA billing forms and prevailing wage tracking.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
