Planner, Department of Planning and Development
The Town of Hartford, VT is seeking a highly skilled professional to serve as the general Planner for the Department of Planning and Development. This position is responsible for long-range planning, some project development and implementation, and grant writing/administration for planning and development projects related to historic preservation, conservation, pedestrian and bicycle planning, and hazard mitigation. The Planner also assists with planning, land use, zoning, and transportation activities in the department as needed. In the absence of the Zoning Administrative Officer (ZAO), the Planner serves as the Acting ZAO.
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in urban or regional planning, community development, or other relevant disciplines. Minimum of 3 years of planning experience in a public setting, including municipal experience, demonstrating technical skills in a broad range of planning and development areas, including program area responsibilities listed above. Familiarity with Vermont’s land use laws, housing, historic preservation, and natural resource/conservation programs. G.I.S mapping experience preferred. A combination of education and experience that demonstrates the above required skills and abilities may be considered.
The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, well-organized; able to manage multiple priorities; and have strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with other staff and the public. Pay range is $33.02 to $46.21 per hour.
