Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Vertical Lathe Machinist (VTL) to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will operate and program vertical turret lathes to produce precision components with efficiency and accuracy. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced machining equipment and contribute to high-quality manufacturing projects in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC vertical lathe (VTL) machines to produce complex parts according to blueprints and specifications
- Program CNC VTLs using CAM programming software and interpret G-code commands for precise machining
- Read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and blueprints to ensure accurate production
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify part dimensions
- Select appropriate tooling and tooling setups for optimal machining performance
- Follow lean manufacturing principles to minimize waste and improve workflow efficiency
Requirements
- Proven experience operating CNC vertical lathes (VTLs) or similar CNC turning equipment with Fanuc controls or equivalent systems
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming, CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks or other CAD tools, and blueprint reading skills
- Ability to use precision measurement tools like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines accurately
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, feeds, speeds, and tolerances
- Familiarity with tooling selection, setup procedures, and the use of hand tools and power tools in a manufacturing setting
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices and plastics injection molding processes is a plus
- Valid forklift certification is desirable for material handling tasks
