Overview
The Trolley Operator is responsible for safely operating the Explore La Crosse Trolley on designated routes, adhering to the assigned schedule while providing courteous and efficient transportation. This role involves picking up and dropping off passengers at designated stops and other locations along the route.
Duties
- Safely transporting guests on guided historic tours, Familiarization Tours, and private guided tours.
- Completing a trolley pre-trip check at the beginning of each shift to check for damage to the trolley, oil and gas levels, tire pressure, etc. while immediately reporting in writing any defects or concerns to the Manager of Events & Tourism.
- Fill the trolley with Diesel Fuel as needed and or after each tour. Kwik Trip Fleet Gas Card will be provided.
- Communicating clearly with all team members to ensure a safe, smooth and positive experience of guests.
- Greeting guests upon arrival to the tour, as well as thanking them for visiting or asking them about their experiences as they are exiting the trolley.
- Helping to orient guests and answering their questions.
- Providing concierge level customer experiences by going above and beyond: helping guests on and off the trolley, providing umbrellas from door to door on rainy days (Explore La Crosse Umbrellas provided), assisting guests with mobility issues while making sure they feel comfortable and welcome.
- At the end of each tour, clean the inside of the trolley and outside of the trolley as needed.
- Availability during weekdays between 8am-5pm and weekends as tours require.
- Additional tasks may be assigned by the Director of Tourism & Events, the Manager of Events & Tourism, the Guide, or the Executive Director.
Qualifications
- Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record and CDL B/C with P Endorsement.
- Two years of experience driving passengers.
- Working knowledge of the history of the La Crosse Region is a plus.
Skills/Abilities:
- Education - High school diploma.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, while getting in and out of the trolley.
- Multitasking - concentrate on driving while being in tune with the guide for directions.
- Communication skills, both oral and written.
- Customer service skills and sense of public relations.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to adhere to a varying schedule.
- Ability to listen and follow instructions.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Two years of experience driving passengers.
- Working knowledge of the history of the La Crosse Region is a plus.
Additional Responsibilities:
Other duties as assigned by management.
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4.0 – 12.0 per week
