POSITION SUMMARY
The General Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Lakota Thrifty Mart Grocery Store. This Management oversight includes overseeing staff, ordering, receiving and stocking merchandise, pricing and ensuring customer satisfaction. The General Manager is responsible for ensuring that all products are properly stocked a displayed in a safe and attractive manner. The General Manager will maintain an organized store and a clean and sanitized environment. The General Manager will monitor and analyze sales, and the cost of goods and services and develop strategies to maximize profits. The General Manager will ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides reliable, impressive Customer Service
- Responsible for the efficient, profitable and safe operation of the store.
- Organizes, supervises and coordinates the work of the grocery store including; produce, meat, bakery, food court, general merchandise/health and beauty, dairy, frozen and office management departments
- Supervises overall store operations
- Responsible for the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure optimal health and sanitation of the store and to maintain high sanitation standards.
- Prepares financial reporting including; profit and loss statements, inventory, payroll, sales and others. Works with company CPA.
- Prepares and assures budget, sales, gross profit and controllable expense goals are being achieved
- Works with vendors including; Associated Wholesale Grocers, Inc (AWG), Coke, Frito Lay, local vendors and others to achieve optimal sales and profit margins.
- Identifies, keeps and promotes top selling store products and reduces and eliminates low selling store products.
- Works with sales and marketing including advertised promotions; recommends items and ideas for in-store promotion programs
- Monitors competition regularly for pricing, product variety, quality and merchandising. Recommend action to be taken to achieve store objectives.
- Directs and assists in the hiring, training, development and appraisal of store employees.
- Implements and maintains work schedules, labor control and efficiencies
- Establishes “Just in Time” inventory and monitoring system to assure proper inventory, ordering and sales
- Maintains accurate records required by management.
- Establishes schedules to ensure good housekeeping practices and proper maintenance of equipment and facilities, both in-store and external premises, and makes appropriate recommendations.
- Submits monthly report to Cheyenne River Economic Development Corp.
- Coordinates all other projects and duties as assigned.

- Regularly required to sit, stand and use hands to handle objects, tools or controls
- Must be able to climb a ladder to retrieve items stored in elevated or overhead racks or shelves located above refrigerated boxes, in stockrooms and other storage areas
- Must occasionally exert or lift to 50 pounds carrying boxes of food, records, forms and other materials and frequently lift moderate amounts of weight
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Five Years of Retail Grocery Store Experience
· Five years of Supervisory and/or Management Experience
· High School Diploma or GED
· Good Leadership Skills
· Customer Service Experience
· Strong Math Skills
· Strong Computer and Technology Skills
COMPENSATION
Compensation is negotiable.
