Our practice focuses on litigation involving medical and professional malpractice, motor vehicle collisions, premises liability, product liability, and related claims. We handle cases from investigation through trial and work closely as a team to advocate for our clients at every stage of the litigation process.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced litigation support professional to join our team. This position is ideal for an experienced legal secretary, legal assistant, or paralegal with a background in civil litigation.
The position is litigation-focused and best suited for someone who is organized, proactive, and comfortable managing files involving extensive discovery, medical records, and client communication. Candidates with legal secretary or legal assistant experience are encouraged to apply. Paralegal experience is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Maintain attorney calendars and schedule depositions, hearings, mediations, court appearances, and other case-related events
- Obtain, organize, and manage medical records, medical bills, and lien information
- Prepare, file, and serve pleadings, motions, notices, subpoenas, and other litigation documents in state and federal court
- Track case deadlines, court dates, discovery schedules, and deposition dates
- Communicate with clients regarding case status, treatment updates, and document collection
- Maintain organized, complete, and litigation-ready case files
- Draft, organize, and manage written discovery, including interrogatories, requests to produce, and requests to admit
- Assist with deposition preparation, including organizing exhibits and summarizing testimony
- Assist with mediation and trial preparation, including exhibit lists, witness files, trial binders, and demonstrative evidence
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a legal secretary, legal assistant, paralegal, or similar litigation support role
- Personal injury litigation experience preferred
- Familiarity with Illinois civil procedure and discovery practice
- Experience handling medical records, billing, and liens
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple active litigation files and competing deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working directly with clients and attorneys
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and case management software
- Experience with e-filing in Illinois state and federal courts
- Trial, arbitration, or mediation preparation experience is a plus
