Overview
Join a growing organization partnered with one of Europe’s premier CNC machine builders. As a Machinist/Programmer, you will become a technical expert on a line of high‑precision Swiss‑made CNC machines. Over several months, you will receive extensive factory training and play a key role in supporting dealers, customers, and internal teams across North America. This position blends hands‑on machining, customer interaction, training, and pre‑sales technical support.
Travel: to be based out of Columbus, Georgia (customer location). The first 3 months will do training in Huntersville, NC.
Key Responsibilities Training & Education
- Develop and deliver training programs for dealers, operators, and internal staff on machine operation, setup, and best‑practice machining techniques.
- Provide hands‑on operator training, including control navigation, tool setup, probing cycles, and safe operation.
- Create and maintain training materials, technical guides, and application documentation.
CAM Programming & Process Development
- Utilize CAM software to create, modify, and optimize machining programs; free‑form CAM knowledge is highly valued.
- Build toolpaths, simulate operations, and validate machining strategies for customer parts.
- Support customers in integrating CAM workflows with the machine’s control platform.
Control Systems Knowledge
- Apply working knowledge of Siemens PLC controls for machine operation, troubleshooting, and process optimization.
- Receive formal training to become proficient with Heidenhain controls, expanding capability across the full machine lineup.
- Assist customers in understanding control functions, cycles, probing routines, and advanced machining features.
Test Cuts, Time Studies & Process Validation
- Perform test cuts to evaluate machine accuracy, surface finish, and overall performance.
- Analyze cutting results and identify opportunities to improve parameters, tooling, or fixturing.
- Conduct detailed time studies to establish realistic cycle times and validate process efficiency for customer RFQs and turnkey projects.
Demonstrations, Trade Shows & Pre‑Sales Support
- Prepare and execute pre‑sale machine demonstrations showcasing milling performance, accuracy, and speed.
- Support trade shows and open houses, including machine setup, tooling, programming, and live cutting demos.
- Engage with prospective customers to explain machine capabilities and application advantages.
Sales Team Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales to provide timely application support and technical insight.
- Review RFQs for feasibility, manufacturability, and cycle time expectations.
- Assist in developing turnkey proposals, including tooling, fixturing, and process recommendations.
Customer Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide remote and on‑site applications support for machining issues such as chatter, finish problems, tolerance deviations, and tool wear.
- Recommend process adjustments, updated parameters, or programming improvements to resolve issues efficiently.
- Maintain strong communication with customers and dealers to ensure rapid and effective support.
Documentation & Technical Communication
- Develop and distribute application notes, setup sheets, best‑practice guides, and technical bulletins.
- Maintain clear communication with dealers, customers, and internal teams regarding application updates and process recommendations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour

Experience:
