American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an EP Lab position requiring a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience and proficiency in electrophysiology procedures including ablations, pacemaker insertions, and lead extractions.

EP Lab setting within a hospital environment
-
Average daily census of approximately 15 cases
-
Procedures include ablations (VT, PVI, CV, A-Flutter, AV Node), ICD/Pacer placement and exchanges, laser lead extraction, and left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO)

Special equipment includes PFA, Cryo, ESI, IVUS, and Cardio Lab
-
EMR/documentation systems: Epic (Cupid module), Cardio Lab, Pyxis, and SBAR communication protocol

Schedule: 4x10-hour day shifts, 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM

Rotating late team assignments — at least one '1st Late' and one '2nd Late' per week; travelers may receive additional late assignments to fill scheduling needs

Local candidates are accepted within 50 miles of the facility at a reduced rate

Active NC or Compact RN license required; license may be pending at time of consideration

Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS (may be pending at time of consideration)

Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
-
Proficiency in EP lab skills including cardiac ablation, cardiac mapping, arrhythmia induction, dysrhythmia interpretation, conduction studies, and electrophysiology evaluation

Experience with pacemaker insertion/programming, AICD insertion/programming, temporary pacemaker, Watchman/LAA closure, and laser-assisted procedures

Ability to scrub and circulate procedures, maintain sterile field, and perform sterile technique

Comfort providing conscious sedation during procedures

Skills in EKG lead placement, access site prep, accurate monitoring, equipment setup, and recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias

Two manager/supervisor professional references from within the past 12 months highly preferred; references required prior to start

30-hour unit orientation provided; no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment due to orientation
-
8–10 hours of pre-start online modules required (completed via online learning, Zoom, webinar, or in-person); modules must also be completed annually

Scrubs are provided

Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays

RTO of 7 days or fewer may be auto-approved provided it does not fall on a holiday; requests exceeding 7 days require facility approval; RTO cannot be worked out on-site after booking

Any previous permanent, PRN, or EP staff employee of this health system must wait 12 months before being considered as a traveler; prior employment history should be disclosed

Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and could be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters

Travel pairs are permitted; each must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially different schedules
