Qualifications
Master’s degree in nursing preferred. Must have BSN or making annual progression toward degree. Must be able to meet Iowa Board of Nursing academic qualifications and the credentialing requirements in Northeast Iowa Community College’s Quality Faculty Plan (QFP). Must maintain current Iowa RN licensure. Three years of RN experience in medical/surgical required. Must possess strong clinical and communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Responsible for clinical and laboratory instruction for Practical and/or Associate Degree Nursing courses assigned.
2. Teach courses in accordance with objectives of the course outline as set forth by the department.
3. Meet all scheduled class, lab and clinical commitments as promptly as possible.
4. Attend all scheduled part-time faculty orientations and updates unless excused by the Director.
5. Emphasize to all classes the importance of prompt and regular class attendance.
6. Keep attendance records on all students to comply with Federal Financial Aid Guidelines.
7. Prepare and submit accurate grade reports to the Director of Nursing as requested.
8. Submit referrals to the Department Chairs on all students who may be in need of counseling.
9. Promptly report repairs needed for the classroom and equipment.
10. Assist in recruiting students as needed.
11. Assist with the development and support of a cohesive general education program within the department, campus and college district.
12. Represent the college in a professional manner in all settings.
13. Adhere to responsibilities as outlined in the Department of Nursing Reference Manual.
14. Perform additional professional responsibilities as assigned.
