Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Forklift Trainer to join our organization’s training and development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating comprehensive forklift operation training programs that ensure safety, compliance, and operational excellence. This role plays a vital part in fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement by equipping employees with the necessary skills and knowledge to operate forklifts efficiently and responsibly. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in instructional design, adult education, and workplace safety standards, with a strong background in developing engaging training content using advanced learning technologies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement forklift training curricula aligned with industry safety standards, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Deliver engaging classroom and hands-on training sessions utilizing instructional design principles such as ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) to maximize learning outcomes.
- Assess trainee performance through practical evaluations, written tests, and observation to ensure competency before certification.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations and incorporate best practices into training modules.
- Utilize Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Workday or enterprise platforms like SharePoint to manage training records, track progress, and generate reports.
- Collaborate with HR and operations teams on employee orientation, talent management initiatives, and succession planning related to forklift operation roles.
- Continuously improve training programs by integrating new learning technologies such as Adobe Captivate or e-learning content development tools.
- Conduct research on industry trends in forklift safety and instructional techniques to enhance program effectiveness.
- Support change management initiatives by communicating updates effectively through public speaking engagements and presentations.
- Provide mentoring to new trainers or junior staff members to promote a culture of continuous learning.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in designing and delivering forklift operator training programs within a corporate or industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of adult education principles, learning theories instruction, and instructional design methodologies including ADDIE.
- Proficiency with LMS platforms such as Workday or SharePoint for content management and reporting.
- Skilled in using learning technology tools like Adobe Captivate for e-learning course development.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, program management, and performance management strategies.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to forklift operation and workplace safety standards.
- Experience with HRIS systems like SAP or Salesforce for employee data collection and reporting is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects effectively while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills for employee relations, conflict management, mentoring, and delivering impactful training sessions.
