Description:
The Guest Service Associate Position is a leading role in the fulfillment of the mission of Catholic Urban Programs (CUP). CUP seeks to hire individuals that understand “service,” and who are skilled service providers, in the areas of housekeeping, cooking and intake. This position is not for someone looking for a job, this position is the best fit for individuals who want to make an impact in the lives of some of the most vulnerable citizens in our community. It is our goal to be a leading service provider for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in St. Clair County IL., and we are seeking enthusiastic team members to help us realize our goal.
Responsibilities:
Programs:
· To answer the telephone calls and keep track of the in-house activities such as room availability, volunteer and shelter renovation activities etc.
· Give outstanding services to the guest. Greet them in a friendly manner and interact with them in a positive way.
· To maintain up to date knowledge on the current services that are being offered and make sure that this information is conveyed to the guest in an effective way.
· To professionally and accurately log all relevant guest related information in the shift log.
· To ensure the building is safe and secure at all times. Ensuring bags are searched thoroughly and no harmful items are allowed inside the building.
· To maintain order and a pleasant living and working environment for staff and guests.
· To work collaboratively with team members, volunteers and shelter guest supporting all aspects of the program when asked.
· To complete other duties as requested by the Program Manager.
Guest Service Associate Evenings Weekends (4pm-12am).
In addition to the job duties listed above in the main description the Guest Service Associate evenings is a utility team member.
· Complete dinner preparations as instructed by the cook
· Setup and break-down of the dinner meal
· Assist with new guest intakes, ensuring that each guest receives a care package and is escorted to a clean and sanitizing living area.
· Provide childcare during new guest orientation and during weekly house meetings
· Ensure guest chores are completed according to CUP standards
· Prepare and appropriately store brown bag lunches
· Complete daily attendance count at curfew, ensuring eye to eye contact is made with each adult guest so that all guests are accounted for at curfew.
· Follow all CUP service philosophies, policies, and procedures as it relates to the organization and program specific guidelines.
· Complete other duties as requested by the program manager.
Guest Service Associate Overnight 12am to 8am
In addition to the job duties listed above the Guest Service Associate Overnight will be responsible for housekeeping. The 3rd shift Guest Service Associate is responsible for the cleanliness, health and sanitation of the shelter. Demonstration of cleaning skills is required.
· Performs daily cleaning of the shelter building, including kitchen, staff bathroom, living and dining room, staff work area.
· Thoroughly clean and sanitize bedrooms when clients exit. Strip beds, replace with clean linens, dust, sweep and mop.
· Identifies minor maintenance issues and communicates to the Program Manager.
· Maintains inventory of supplies (cleaning & personal hygiene) alert Program Manager when supplies need to be restocked.
· Empties all overnight trash receptacles prior to shift exit.
· Follows all CUP service philosophies, policies and procedures as it relates to the organization and program specific guidelines.
· Complete other duties as assigned or requested by the program manager.
Requirements:
· Maintain appropriate boundaries when working with shelter residents and staff
· Maintain confidentiality, neutrality, and professionalism in role;

· Demonstrate basic computer skills
· Demonstrate general knowledge of the dynamics and causes of homelessness and a commitment to end homelessness as a social problem;

· Arrive to work promptly and regularly;
· Concentrate and perform accurately;
· High School Diploma or equivalent required
· Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a residential setting
