The DBIDS credential is the pass issued by the base security to work on the base. Applicant must be able to pass a background check to qualify for a DBIDS credential, which is a mandatory requirement for working at Happy Cup Cafe.
Job Summary
Join our vibrant café team as a Café Team Member and become the heart of a lively, fast-paced food service environment. This position is scheduled daily (weekdays) from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and focuses on food and coffee preparation, cashier responsibilities, and maintaining a clean, welcoming space. In this role, you will deliver exceptional customer experiences by preparing and serving food and beverages, handling sales transactions, and supporting daily prep and cleanup tasks. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help create a positive atmosphere where customers feel valued and eager to return.
The ideal candidate has experience preparing breakfast and lunch cuisine and brings previous barista and/or food preparation experience. You should be comfortable working with food safety standards, operating POS systems, and supporting a busy service period. Paid training is available for candidates who demonstrate strong potential and a willingness to learn.
Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of food items with efficiency and care, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met.
- Operate Toast POS systems accurately for order processing, sales transactions, and cash handling.
- Provide friendly customer service by taking orders, answering questions, and upselling menu items to enhance guest satisfaction.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the café area, including food prep stations, dining spaces, and equipment in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Perform food handling duties such as prepping food items, restocking supplies, and ensuring quick service during busy periods.
- Manage cash register operations with accuracy, including cash handling and basic math calculations for transactions.
- Complete kitchen duties in food preparation, inventory management, and adhering to sanitation standards.
Requirements
- Candidate must pass a background check and qualify for access onto Tyndall Air Force Base. Inability to obtain clearance for a DBIDS credential will render the candidate ineligible for employment.
- Previous experience in food service or a quick service & fast food restaurant environment is preferred but not required; enthusiasm to learn is key!
- Knowledge of POS systems is a plus.
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during peak hours.
- Ability to perform food preparation tasks safely while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
- Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude and clear communication abilities.
- Basic math skills for cash handling and retail math calculations.
- Familiarity with food safety procedures and proper food handling techniques.
- Experience working in a café, retail store, grocery store, or restaurant setting is advantageous.
