Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Accounts Payable Accountant to join our finance team. Responsibilities
- Process and verify invoices using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Workday, or similar systems, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
- Perform account reconciliations for accounts payable and related general ledger accounts to ensure data integrity and compliance with SOX controls.
- Prepare and review journal entries related to accounts payable transactions, maintaining proper documentation for audit purposes.
- Manage vendor setup, maintenance, and payment processing through platforms like Paychex, ADP, Ceridian, or Kronos.
- Conduct thorough analysis of outstanding payables, resolve discrepancies, and communicate with vendors or internal teams to expedite payments.
- Assist in month-end closing activities by reconciling accounts payable sub-ledgers with the general ledger.
- Support compliance efforts by adhering to GAAP standards and internal controls related to financial reporting and data security.
- Collaborate with human resources on benefits administration and payroll management tasks when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions through meticulous data entry and double-entry bookkeeping practices.
Experience
- Proven experience in accounts payable functions within a corporate or public accounting environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles such as GAAP and familiarity with SOX compliance requirements.
- Hands-on experience with financial software including QuickBooks, Sage, Workday, PeopleSoft, UltiPro, or similar platforms.
- Proficiency in using HRIS systems like ADP or Ceridian for payroll-related tasks is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability in account reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger accounting.
- Excellent analysis skills with attention to detail in data entry and account verification processes.
