Overview
Clawson and Staubes seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our dynamic insurance defense legal team in our Myrtle Beach office. Your proactive approach, organizational skills, and legal research expertise will contribute significantly to case management, document preparation, and client interactions. Day-to-day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Assisting the paralegal throughout the legal process of litigation
· Performing administrative duties, such as scheduling hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and managing logistics
· Assisting with the preparation of discovery requests and responses
· Conducting outgoing phone calls to insurance adjusters, court reporters, and other law firm staff
· Processing invoices and ensuring accurate billing for legal services
· Processing incoming and outgoing mail related to case matters and general office communication
· Organizing exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices
· Communicating with clients and witnesses to schedule meetings, mediations, and depositions
· Managing, organizing, and maintaining documents in paper or electronic filing systems
· Providing general administrative assistance, such as maintaining the attorney’s calendar and making travel arrangements
· Calculating and tracking deadlines, and communicating progress, status, and issues to attorneys and paralegals
· Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a paralegal or legal assistant within a busy law office environment.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases efficiently.
- Excellent correspondence skills that are clear and professional.
- Experience supporting litigation processes including filing court documents accurately within deadlines.
- Strong proofreading skills coupled with meticulous attention to detail in transcription tasks.
- Excellent phone etiquette combined with strong clerical experience including filing and administrative support functions.
- Knowledge of Clio software a plus.
Experience:
· 3+ years of administrative experience
· Proficiency in Microsoft 365 is required
· Preferred experience in law firms or a legal environment
