Counter Sales Representative
Job Overview
Northeastern Building Supply is seeking a dependable, customer-focused Counter Sales Representative for our building materials yard. This position is responsible for assisting contractors and walk-in customers, processing orders, answering product questions, and helping customers load smaller hardware and accessory items.
The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, is organized, and isn’t afraid to work in a warehouse environment. Experience with drywall, metal framing, insulation, ceilings, or construction materials is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and contractors as they enter the branch
- Process customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Answer questions about drywall, metal studs, insulation, ceiling products, and related accessories
- Recommend products based on customer needs
- Pull and stage hardware and smaller warehouse items for customer pickup
- Coordinate with warehouse staff on larger material orders
- Operate the point-of-sale/computer system to create quotes, invoices, and orders
- Answer incoming phone calls and assist customers with pricing and product availability
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional sales counter
- Build lasting relationships with contractors and repeat customers
Qualifications
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Forklift experience is a plus (training available)
- Knowledge of construction or building materials preferred but not required
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
