Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Sushi Helper to join our dynamic kitchen team. In this role, you will support the sushi preparation process, assist with food handling, and ensure that our sushi offerings meet our high standards of quality and safety. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about Japanese cuisine, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to a fast-paced, friendly environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing sushi ingredients, including slicing fish and vegetables using proper knife skills and slicing techniques.
- Support the assembly of sushi rolls and other menu items following established recipes and presentation standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, including proper sanitation practices for food safety management.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, such as knives, rice cookers, and refrigeration units.
- Help with food handling procedures to ensure compliance with safety standards in production and storage.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and delivery during busy service hours.
- Follow all safety protocols related to food handling, cleaning, and equipment operation to maintain a safe working environment.
Experience
- Previous experience in food service or hospitality is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Knowledge of food safety standards in production environments is a plus.
- Experience with menu planning or culinary activities related to sushi or Japanese cuisine is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills for effective teamwork with kitchen staff.
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Basic knife skills, including slicing techniques specific to seafood and vegetables.
- A positive attitude with a willingness to learn about food preparation, safety standards, and customer service within the food industry.
