Caregiver Job Description
Job Summary
A family seeking a compassionate caregiver / respite care for their special needs 7-year-old boy with quad cerebral palsy. The candidate will provide essential support to him at home.
About
He is a very sweet non-verbal and non-ambulatory 7 year old. He enjoys sounds and listening to talking and singing. He loves floating in the pool, physical interaction, and playing.
Ideal Candidate
Must be kind and patient, active and constantly engaged with him.
Due to his limited mobility you must be able to regularly lift and carry 40 lbs to assist with transfers, personal care and ambulation.
Ability to work independently.
Must be ok with small hyper-allergenic dogs.
Preferred schedule: Monday - Friday , from 2-3pm with some overnight stays scheduled in advance.
Duties
- Constant supervision, physical support by stretching, repositioning.
- Assist patient with daily living activities such as diaper change, bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
- Provide emotional support and companionship.
- Help with mobility and transportation within home environment or during appointments.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization.
- Use of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) such as stander and gait trainer as needed.
Experience
- Previous experience in caregiving, ihss or nursing roles required.
- Familiarity with medicine practices and home community care is advantageous.
- Experience working with pediatric clients.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and procedures related to patient care is beneficial.
- CPR certification required
Employment Type
You will be hired by IHSS or SDP.
Someone must be: IHSS PROVIDER (w/valid provider #)
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
