Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including accounts payable and receivable, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or similar systems.
- Reconcile bank statements, balance sheets, and accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Process payroll accurately and on time, including tax calculations, deductions, benefits administration, and compliance with applicable regulations.
- Perform account analysis and account reconciliation to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
- Prepare financial reports, including income statements, cash flow statements, and other reports necessary for internal review or external reporting.
- Maintain detailed records of all financial transactions, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and governmental regulations.
- Support budgeting processes by providing relevant financial data and insights for strategic planning initiatives.
Requirements
- Proven experience in bookkeeping, payroll processing, or related accounting roles within corporate or non-profit environments.
- Strong proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online), Xero, Sage, or similar platforms; experience with financial software is essential.
- Knowledge of GAAP standards, governmental accounting practices (if applicable), and non-profit accounting principles.
- Familiarity with payroll systems and processing procedures; experience with tax filings and benefits administration is highly desirable.
- Excellent understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation.
- Demonstrated ability to work with spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets), perform 10-key typing accurately, and analyze financial data efficiently.
- Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly; strong attention to detail is critical for accuracy in all tasks.
- Technical skills in accounting systems integration and general ledger accounting are preferred; experience with public accounting or corporate accounting is a plus.
